Don’t let Incontinence Stop you from being Active

Many people believe that when they have incontinence they are not able to do the activities they used to.  They believe that they are stuck having to wear pads for the rest of their lives and give up things they love.

The truth is you don’t have to.  There are many incontinence pads that help with your certain situation.  Whether you sit all day, or are running a marathon; choosing the right incontinence pad for you will make your day easier and you can focus on things that really matter.

Depending on the type of activity you do will depend on the right product for you.

Luckily you do not have to guess.  You can try certain products for free before you decide to commit to certain one. Living with incontinence can be made easier if you use the right products. Whether you have stress incontinence and leak when you sneeze or cough and need just small pantiliners, or you need a lot more protection than that, do some research to find the right product for you.

For moderate leaks try TENA Serenity Ultra Thin Regular These pads are ultra thin and most importantly has an adhesive for secure fixation so that you can walk or jog without feeling a bulky pad on. There is nothing better than feeling secure, knowing you choose the right product for you specific incontinence need.

Memory Loss and Incontinence Medication

Studies show that people who take medication to help with incontinence have on average more memory loss than people who don’t.  In a landmark study 679 people who took medication were compared 191 who did not. Over the course of several years, the people who took the drugs lost their memory faster than those who did not. The drugs act on a class of chemicals used to transmit messages in the nervous system.

Some would say, “It may be better to use diapers and be able to think clearly than the other way around.”

For those who choose not to go on medication for incontinence, DMES offers a very wide variety of incontinence products for men and women.  How to decide on the right adult diapers for you? You can choose whether you are light, medium, or heavy and then decide whether you want incontinence briefsIncontinence pantsincontinence pads, or incontinence pantiliners.

It is important to choose the right incontinence products and adult diapers for your lifestyle so that you are comfortable and you don’t have to think much about your situation.  Remember that you have options, and you don’t have to take medicine to cope with your incontinence, the alternative is finding the right pad for you so that you can go on about your day without the stress of not feeling comfortable and secure.

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., Aug. 11, 2011 — Diversified Medical Equipment & Supplies Corporation (DMES, Inc.), a leading medical supply company servicing the long-term care and home care sectors since 1994, today announced that the company’s online medical supply store has more than doubled in size since its 2009 inception.

A recent addition to the company’s portfolio, www.dmes.com has grown to become a significant source of revenue for DMES, Inc.  Customers are able to get the same quality products they would have access to in hospitals and institutional settings, delivered directly to their home or business.  Products ranging anywhere from simple items such as latex exam gloves to incontinence products, diabetic supplies, catheters, or nutritional supplements, to durable medical equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, power scooters and shower chairs.

“I could not be more pleased about the recent progress we have made with our website.  We owe this success to our team and the thousands of customers that trust us to provide them with the highest quality products at fair prices,” said Adrian Ioja, General Manager of DMES, Inc.  “We understand the need for individuals that act as caregivers to have easy access to medical supplies, and the need for patients recovering from strokes, orthopedic surgeries or other serious accidents to have the finest in quality care products, from bath safety to assisted living devices, and they are finding them here at DMES.com.”

Yet the website’s highest sales come from their wide range of incontinence products.  “We make it easy for people to shop by absorbency level, brand, and size,” Mr. Ioja continued. “Buying incontinence products is a very personal thing for many people, and we are finding that more and more prefer to buy these products privately and securely online, while having them delivered discreetly to their door.  We have been able to convert those that previously shopped in-store, due to the fact that we provide samples of almost everything we sell.”

With online sales exceeding 100 percent growth each year, backed by stellar customer service, Mr. Ioja concluded, “I really believe that at our current pace we will reach our goal of one million orders within the near future.”

DMES in Home Medical Equipment (HME) News

Provider follows patient from nursing facility to the home
by Theresa Flaherty, Managing Editor of HME News  on 7/26/11

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. – Diversified Medical Equipment and Supplies (DMES) in April ventured into the home care sector with the launch of its new Home Care Medical Supply division.

It’s a natural extension for DMES, which already offers DME and supplies to about 200 nursing homes in California, said general manager Adrian Ioja.

“Our plan is to offer the complete continuum of care,” he said. “Whatever you use in the nursing home, we can offer at home.”

The provider offers a full line of DME and supplies through its website, www.dmes.com. Through its two distribution centers, in Stockton and Huntington Beach, it can ship–or deliver–orders throughout the state.

“We try to be a one-stop shop,” said Ioja. “There isn’t anywhere we can’t get a product to in a day or two.”

One product category the provider prides itself on doing well is incontinence products. A nursing home administrator by trade, Ioja has seen first-hand what happens when inferior products are used. Therefore, DMES only offers higher-end brands, even to Medi-Cal patients.

“I’ve seen how the plastic briefs break down,” he said. “We really want to do the right thing for the customer.”

Medicare is about 60% percent of DMES’ business, a number Ioja would like to see reduced to between 30 percent and 40 percent. With competitive bidding and increased reimbursement cuts, he says he’s scared like everyone else. He thinks his business model, which keeps costs lower, will allow him to weather whatever comes along.

“Maybe we don’t make money on the insurance piece,” said Ioja. “But, if we can retain that customer because we have good customer service, why would they want to go somewhere else?”
